My two dogs fight over this thing when it's zipped open for dinner, but half an hour later I can fold it flat and stash it in the backpack for our hike. The zip glides smooth even when it's got kibble crumbs in the track.
The zipper mechanism is surprisingly smooth for something so compact, and when it's fully opened the bowl holds a proper amount of kibble for my 60-pound lab. I've tossed it in my backpack for hikes and it takes up almost no space, which is exactly what I needed for travel.
